There’s something about this time of year that shifts the rhythm of life a little.

Around here, we’re in the final stretch of school before summer break, which means we’re officially in “summer planning mode.” We’ve been talking about vacations, camps, pool days, family nights, and all the little moments we want to remember.

And honestly?

I love it.

I want this summer to hold laughter, connection, rest, and meaningful memories with the people I love most.

But at the same time…

There are also goals I still care about deeply.

Things I want to nurture.
Progress I want to make.
Parts of myself I don’t want to lose in the middle of everyone else’s schedules and needs.

And I have a feeling I’m not the only woman feeling that tension.

The Summer Drift Is Real

Even if you don’t have school-aged kids, summer tends to change things for all of us.

Slower mornings.
Schedules loosen.
Routines shift.
Days feel less structured.

And before we know it, we can drift into autopilot.

Not because we’re lazy.
Not because we don’t care.

But because intentionality requires… intention.

Without it, summer can easily become:

  • survival mode
  • reactive living
  • saying yes to everything
  • putting ourselves last
  • promising we’ll “get back on track” in the fall

And friend?

I don’t want that for you.

You Are Allowed to Make Progress and Make Memories

One of the biggest realizations I’ve had in recent years is this:

It doesn’t have to be all or nothing.

You do not have to choose between:

  • being present with your family or growing personally
  • resting or moving forward
  • enjoying summer or living intentionally

You can make memories and make progress.

You can laugh deeply and still care about your goals.
You can slow down and still move forward.
You can create space for others without completely disappearing yourself.

Don’t Forget Yourself This Summer

This is the part I really want to gently remind you of:

Please don’t abandon yourself this summer.

Not in a selfish way.
Not in a hustle way.

But in a stewardship way.

Your health matters.
Your spiritual life matters.
Your dreams matter.
Your peace matters.

And often, the women who care for everyone else the most are the quickest to quietly disappear in the process.

Let this be the summer you stay connected to yourself too.

A Different Kind of Summer

What if this summer looked different?

What if instead of drifting through it, you lived it intentionally?

Not perfectly, rigidly, or pressure-filled.

But thoughtfully.

What if you created:

  • moments of rest
  • rhythms of gratitude
  • space to reflect
  • room to dream again
  • intentional memories with the people you love
  • and small faithful steps toward the life you want to build?

Because blooming doesn’t require doing more.

It requires doing what matters.
